Many times, it is desirable to change an attribute uniformly for an entire group of objects. It is way too tedious to go through each wall, for example, and change the baseboard type individually. So, my question is two fold. First, is there a global way to select for example all walls, or all cabinets, or all windows?
Secondly, the need to do global selections and changes would be greatly reduced if there were a way to set up "default values" for an item before ever placing the items onto your plan. An example would be to set the cabinet wood type to "maple - washed" in the object library as a default value, before ever placing any cabinets on the plan.
Merry Christmas all!
If you select the cabinet for example in the Library, right click and Edit Properties then you can change the materials/size etc and they will be the new default. Or right click, Add New and set up the properties - give it your own name.
If you already have the objects placed, then click on each holding down the shift key (make sure you do not select anything that is a different type of object) and you can right click , select Properties and change them all. If the Properties option is not there, you probably have selected something else by mistake (eg it is very easy to select the ceiling along with the walls - use the 'eye' to turn them off if they get in the way).
Another usefull tool is the right click Replace. Select multiples of the same type objects and Replace with another preset with the properties you want.
Also useful is the Material Paintbrush (Edit Menu). Just click the material you want and 'paint' it on. You can also select the 'Dropper' from the top of the Materials panel, click it on the texture of one surface in the model and then 'paint' it on the other. Like a copy and paste but it only pastes the surface texture.
