Title: What is TFP limit on plan-file and import size ??
Post by: Nik on December 26, 2007, 10:27:10 AM
Hi, do we have any idea what is TFP limit on plan-file and import size ??

Can TFP use RAM in XP beyond 'Classic' FP's 32-bit OS limit of ~1.5 Gb ??

Could TFP import a megabyte, near-photo-real 'Dressed Human Figure' exported from eg Poser (TM) ?? Without UVunwrap 'texture-map' support, there's no way to fake polygons...

Sorry, I could play with trial download, but cannot yet spare the time to do it justice. Sadly, unless I can import my FP mega-plan, extend, then furnish it, I'm reluctant to try...

Nik,

I can't really answer your question as I have not yet worked with a really large file.  I have imported a large image as a background photoboard with no problem.  Post a Poser example and I will try it.

Hi Nik,
The limit of ram management in any 32 bit windows os is 4gb.  This is straight from the horses mouth and is the same for vista or xp.  You should be able to use about 1.5 to 2 gb allowing for background processes and the b'stard factor.

Hmm, FP_10 was disk-thrashing with almost half of my 3 Gb RAM still free...

I think I gotta look for a program designed for BIG files...

And that may not be either TFP or Envisioneer.

D'uh, my head hurts again...
