I have an exterior deck stair L shape stair with a landing (see attached picture) I can't produce a nice looking railing on the outside and inside of the stairs. There are problems with the locations of the posts and where the top and bottom rails join. Does anyone know how to make this work or is this a limitation with the software? Thanks!

Probably all you need to do is drag the end posts so that the rail aligns with the post and/or, if necessary, increase the heights of the posts so they align.

Hi Allan and thanks but I'm not having a good time with it. I have tried dragging the railings many different ways but nothing seems to work. Maybe it's the stairs? The stairs are a basic 3 segment layout nothing fancy. L shape stair = (straight stair > landing > straight stair. Perhaps there is a conflict with one of the parameters but I have no idea where to start. I can adjust the height of the railing but not the individual posts.
I am using pro version 16. Are there more options for adjustments in pro architect or envisioneer?
edit > I see if I un-check "Make continuous" in the railing properties I can then adjust the height of all posts in a railing section but I'm still not having much luck with the connections.
Hi Dean,
There are some limitations here in that you cannot adjust then ends of the rails in relation to the posts unless you use the Commercial Guardrail which has added rounded ends. ProArchitect and Envisioneer are identical.
However, with Continuous off, you should be able to drag the end of the rail back so that the rail joins into the post. Alternatively you can adjust the post heights to reach the top of the rail and it appears continuous.
All I did for my image was select Automatic Railings, clicked the stairs (rails appeared), shift/selected all the railings, right clicked, selected Properties and altered the height of the posts.

I have often needed to adjust the height of posts to get desired results.
Another method is to insert a menber such as a cube, sized to match either post or rail, apply texture and carefully locate (zoom in very close) to fill any gaps etc.
