In order to use your old design files with new TurboFloorPlan v17, you will first need to convert them. Using TurboFloorPlan v10 – 16, export your TFP file as DXF model (File menu/Export/3D Model) then import the DXF file into TurboFloorPlan v17. You may experience some data lost as with all file conversions.
How much "loss" expected...
say from a std TFP16 house model supplied by TFP16, how much is useable in TFP17? 20%? 50%? 80%?
If it is not near 100% useable or at least over 95%, then the conversion from TFP16 to TFP17 is not very good at all.
What should we expect?

You will import the DXF or DWG floorplan. Then, you will select each line, surface, etc and you will use the "convert to" feature and convert the elements to walls, decks, etc

I tried to do this.
I exported one of my projects from TFP Deluxe v15 as DXF and got a 35MB file.
I then opened TFP Pro v17 (trial), started a new project and imported the DXF file.
However, I did not see anything in my workspace except 4 tiny lines, so from my perspective the loss was apx. 99.99%.
Since TFP v17 cannot load v15 or v16 projects and apparently cannot reliably import a DXF export either, I would not consider v17 an actual upgrade of TFP v16.
Perhaps it would be more appropriate to call it TFP 2 v1 instead.
Both programs are very different, but anyway, this is not the point here.
It is your privilege to decide the purchase (or not) of a program, but I am finding very odd that you are labeling the program with some concepts instead of asking how to perform the conversion.
Sounds to me that something is wrong with the exporting file.
