Title: Worksheets
Post by: carp61 on July 19, 2013, 08:07:05 AM
Can you or can you not make worksheets in TFP v14 with all updates? I have read posts in the forum and can't get the results that I have
seen here. I add a new view and that's it . No worksheet list or anything resembling what I see in the forum. Is there a step by step
process to get the worksheets, if so can someone show me? Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike,

No, you cannot get Worksheets in any version of TurboFloorPlan. There are some other related programs that have this functionality but they are considerably more expensive (10 -25 times the price!)
Can you provide links to the posts where you thought you saw this functionality?

This was a post a long time ago, I read your edit about the patch removing this ability.
If I reinstall off my CD, will the worksheets be available as long as I don't apply patches?
I appreciate your prompt reply and enjoy seeing your work and using your knowledge.
I have not tried your post on how to do something similar, using TFP.
Thanks, Mike.

Hi Mike,

I wondered if this was what you were referring to. Yes, when,V14 was initially released it included some code from the parent program, Envisioneer, that unlocked the Worhsheets area of the program, accidentally making it available in TFP. When I discovered what had happened and reported it, a patch was released to correct the problem and the update then remove the Worksheet functionality. This had to be done as it undermined the value of the parent program and other varients sold by other companies.

In theory now, if you totally uninstall the existing program, and reinstall from the original CD, then the Worksheet functionality should be there, as long as the CD is one of the few original ones that had this unintended code. There may however be other implications. Because the basic functionality was 'unlocked', does not mean that it all was, so it is possible that parts would be missing and the program could also be unstable.

Before you do that it may be worth having a read of the PDF instructions I devised to help out those like you who may have experienced the Worksheets and then found they disappeared. They do allow you to create construction drawings, with multiple elevations and sections etc on one sheet of paper, by simply exporting individual elevations as DXF files and then importing them into a blank project where you can then add dimensions other lines and text etc.. It works OK but obviously not as simple as the original Worksheet functionality. You will find these instructions at the top of the Tips and Tricks section of the forum. If you do decide to try reinstalling, make sure you back up everything, including the Catalogue and Textures folder if you have added or modified anything in the Catalogue or Textures Library.

Thanks Allan. I will try to install on a computer that has not had TFP on it before
so won't have to worry about registry etc. I'm just curious about it after seeing your
old post. I will try your method  also with my current setup. I don't know how old my CD is
so it may not work. Thanks again, Mike
