Title: missing dimensions
Post by: cric on August 19, 2013, 03:57:01 AM
Hi this could be because I haven't had to plot for a while, so turbofloor could be sulking, or it's my brain gone dormant!
I have completed my plot no problem , if I click on a wall it shows me the dimensions pertinent to that wall, I have dimensions wide awake in filters, yet there are no dimensions showing on the plot! I have tried activating internal, external dimensions, to no avail, if I add dimensions manually they will only show centre to centre of separation walls, which is tricky because I am drawing a cave house and the external walls are a couple of hundred metres thick!
Hope someone can help
Cheers

Hi Cric,

I know what you mean about dormant brains - I have that a lot these days!!

I presume you have Auto Exterior Dimensions turned on? (Tools/ Dimensions)

If you go to Settings / Dimension Settings, you can set the dimensions to read from the edges of a wall rather than the core.

Hi Allen
Thanks as ever for your prompt , succinct reply!
Yes I have turned on auto dimensions and nothing happened!
So started new plot, turned on auto external dims and low and behold I have dimensions!
Allellula you might think.......but tried to add internal dims, nothing happened, so tried to switch off external dims warning box came up asking if I was sure I wanted to loose the dims said yes and they didn't go away.
So in total frustration I dimensioned the plot manually and then exported as dxf file to re import via import object wizard and imports fine but it is missing the dims, the dims lines are there but no figures .
I think I have been here before so will see if I can find previous post!
Cheers

Hi Cric,

Just another though, could it be a display issue?  Try turning off Hardware Acceleration (Settings / Program Settings / Graphics) to check it out. If it works with HA off then you may need to update you computers video card driver.

Have you customised the size of the dimensions text or is it the default?

Hi Allen.
I really don't understand this, went back  the beginning! Removed all dims, then added external dims, no problem exported and imported all dims present and correct! Applied the internal dimensions manually and exported and imported and low and behold all dims present and correct!
About to start another plot so will see what happens next!
Thanks for your suggestions
