Title: How to add outside trim around windows and on the plan?
Post by: RexLan on September 27, 2013, 12:34:57 PM
My current home is block with stucco finish.  They use a foam and glue it to the exterior block before the stucco to create nice trim effects around windows and garage doors.  They also run it horizontal about 4' above the ground on the exterior and paint it with an accent color .... looks very nice.

How can I create this element in my drawings so it will show up on the elevations and rendering?

The Trim around windows and doors is part of the wall settings. Select the Trim Tab, choose Right side or Left side for Interior trim settings or choose Exterior. Exterior trim is usually turned off but you can choose the trim you want from the catalogue.

To get the horizontal band use the Chair Rail that is also part of the Trim settings. You cant set the height and the width is controlled by the member you choose from the catalogue. If you want a different colour or texture below the horizontal band, choose Custom trim and select from the Wainscot elements. Make sure the Trim Basepoint  is set to 'Bottom Of Trim' or the wainscot will be below the floor!

If that is not enough detail just ask again.
