Hello all,
I've finally was able to download the trial version of V12, and now I feel as if I'm under a "time constraint"; consequently instead of spending a lot of time trying to figure out what to do, maybe somebody has already "been there, done it" with what I'm after?
I'm attaching a couple of .jpgs of my house because I understand V10 won't open in V12; nonetheless, in V10 I was abe to use invisble walls along with different locations to draw the roof of my 'L' shaped rancher, along with the roof on the addition in the back. Since V12 doesn't have invisible walls, how can I accomplish the same thing? When I use the wizard for a 'L' shaped rancher, it wants to put a hip type roof over everything?
Thanks,
Ray
While hip roof is default.....you can change to different roof styles. Click on roof edge, arrow changes color when that part of roof is selected (you can shift-click to add to selection), then right click and click on "properties" and explore the various options in the properties window
You can make different roofs on different parts of a house by using more than one "location" but use the same definitions....just use another location name....search this forum for words like "location" as this has been described recently.
Instead of using the wizard...of after its done delete the roof....and insert the roof by room or by "points" to get more control. The wizard is really just a learning starter tool....fast but limited.
You can make walls and roofs in almost any shape including curves. Or try "break" to split things. Its all in the method of "select", right-click, and use the choices in the drop down local list ....takes some exploring but most anything can be changed.
It appears from your pics that you should be able to generate what you want fairly easily in TFP.
Keep trying and start a new thread if you hit a spot you are stuck on. Search this forum for words you need help on such as "roof", render, terrain, etc. because many topics have been resolved.
We seem to all be willing to help each other and learn as we go.
