Title: How to add a fixed window above an entry door
Post by: RexLan on October 25, 2013, 12:20:42 PM
On my front door I want to add an arched fixed window but the program will not allow me to insert it above the doorway.  I need to also have it appear in the window schedule ...???

Thanks

Hi Rex,

Normally an arched window above a door is part of the door and is defined on the Sidelights option of the door. However, this will nor include it in the window schedule.

To insert an ordinary or arched window above a door you need to insert it in the wall alongside the door, right click Elevate it to make sure  it will completely clear the door height and then slide it into position above the door. If the door is in an alcove so that there is not enough room to insert it alongside the door, then drag the end of the side wall away from the 'door wall' and stretch the 'door wall' so there is room for the window alongside. Now insert the widow, slide it over the door, drag the side wall back so that it intersects the 'door wall' again and  then delete the part of the 'door wall'  that is no longer needed, allowing the program to repair the corner.

Make sure the window will definitely clear the door height. Make it too high and once it is in place lower it gradually until it hits the door and disappears. Hit the Undo. You know that the previous height is the lowest you can go.
