Title: Screens for Porch
Post by: cmfloyd on November 26, 2013, 09:27:57 AM
I have V17.  Is there a way to display a window as a screen as for a screened-in porch?

Hi there,

As for the screens, this is how I do => develop the porch using walls => create the openings using the window tool or the door tool => add the screens choosing one of the following options

1 - If you use the door => use a flat panel door => in live view apply (on the panel) a texture called Net (Materials => Custom Library => Bonus Materials => Miscellaneous)
2 - If you use a window or empty casement => create a 2D panel using the 3D workshop Power Tool (textured as indicated above)
3 - If you use a window or empty casement => you can create the screens using a Custom Fence => chain linked

The only flat panel door I found was under the Custom Door Style, and I selected ExteriorDoor01.  Just in case there are others like me that need a bit more direction, I figured I'd share.

NET!!! Fantastic.  I was using Screen and it had much less transparency.  The 3D is so much nicer with the Net material applied.

Thank you!!!

If you check the date of the posts above, they are from 2013. At the time, the doors' names and categories were different, hence the "flat door" mentioned above. Currently you can use any door without applying the style. For example the panel door called "Simple".
