Hi,
There use to be an option to display the sq. ft. of any area/room. Is there a way to do now with TFP?
Thanks
I think I tried it once....
check help file: units of measure, then click on "see also": measure area
to get to: menu/ tools /calc-estimate /area-perimeter
Only shows the total sq ft of the building/location. Mine being the 1st floor.
I think the solution is to delete the floor (one floor for whole bldg)
and insert floor room by room so TFP knows the shape of each individual area instead of one total area....
also lets you change the floor materials room by room
Thanks, I'll try it.
I haven't found anywhere to show the square area of rooms. I don't think that using separate floors will do it. Maybe this needs to be added to Feature Requests if no one else can find it.

Allan I will second on that. I cant get any sq footage by room and I think I try evryting in the progam settings

I tried my idea and you are correct it does not work.
However, I do have a work-around method that does work...I tried it ...
For each room you wish to measure the sq-ft, create another "location" and trace the room on that location with walls...then when you run the area tool it will report that area for that location.
A lot of extra work....good if you turn in a suggestion for tool improvement.
But this method also gives the opportunity to obtain (if desired) the inside dimensioned sq-ft area if on the special location you draw the walls outside edge on the inside of the real room walls....as the area tool measures using outside dimensions.
You can hide or delete the extra locations to get them out of the way when not needed.
And I thought I was going mad. The old Floor Plan 3D had this function that was great at quickly getting quantities of specific flooring. I really like the new interior dimensioning tools, but I would have never bought this product if I knew it didn't have area by room.
Have you tried the Materials List? If it is quantities you want and you insert the correct type of floor for each room them it will tell you the quantities for everything.
