Title: Interior Furniture will not move
Post by: bob2rob2 on February 10, 2014, 06:45:46 PM
I have a problem with interior furniture I placed in my design to see if I liked the room wall layout.  I wound up changing the walls and doors but for some reason the interior furniture will not be moved or deleted (I can not even click on it), however the program does allow me to hide it using the filter, so the program recognizes that it is there.

I find this very annoying and am wondering if anyone knows a fix for this, or has anyone else encountered this and found a way to remove this program error/glitch.

thanks!

Hi Bob (I presume!),

Welcome to the forum.

Are you able to click on the furniture in 3D view?
If so, are you sure you are on the right Location (floor level) when in plan view?

You can only select objects on the level you are on - if the furniture appears pale you may be on the wrong Location.

If you still cannot select it try going to Settings / Program Settings / Graphics and untick the Hardware Acceleration option (or tick it if it is unticked). If it works with it unticked, then it indicates a problem with the computer's video card driver. Usually if you go to the manufacturers website it will allow you to download the latest driver which should fix the problem. You can continue to work with Hardware Acceleration off but movement around the screen may be slow.

Let us know how you go with that.

Hello and thank you for a quick response!

I am still having a problem with the furniture not moving.  I am on the correct floor in 2d mode. I tried using the hardware accelerator untick option, but this did not correct the problem.  Also, for some reason I am unable to get to 3d view now, the spinning dial comes up but the program just sits there, and I get a "program unresponding" message on the top bar if I click on it after some time.
I dont understand this as the program has worked before just fine.

I will do as you suggest and update the driver of the video card.

Hi there,

Sorry to provide my opinion, but although V17 is a different program, I saw this issue before.
Usually it is a problem with the video card capability. If you have an integrated video card (without dedicated memory for video), this is the reason of your problem.
Try this: create a simple file:  just a room will do, then add a chair => can you move it? . If so, this means that your computer can handle just a limited number of Mb.
So, you can either simplify your file or simplify the objects.
Hope this helps

Patricia

With H/W acceleration set to off (a good thing to try), the display response may be very slow.

Did you try your file (with H/W acc. on), and set (bottom right of TFP workspace) to allow collision of objects? If objects are tight against each other, you may not be able to move them.

Suggest you post your file here and let others try to move objects for you to test the file vs. a different PC known to be OK with graphics.
