Title: Adding room extension
Post by: BundyBoy on February 14, 2014, 07:11:31 PM
Hi Forum,
Allan, I know you have mentioned this before but I have added
a room extension to a house (converting a carport into a bedroom).
When I draw the three new external walls (230 thk cavity wall) It is
only showing like an internal wall rather than a cavity. When I click
properties on the wall it displays all the characteristics
of a 230 cavity wall. How do I force it to look like an external wall?

Regards
Shayne

Hi Shayne,

The exterior surface or veneer is only added when the walls join to make an enclosed space. If you the join the walls to the existing house on the same location, they will pick up the exterior properties. If the addition is on a separate location, which is usually best, then you can effect an enclosed space by using the Room Divide tool (invisible wall in effect) to join the existing wall ends.

Another method, easiest, is to Force the walls to be exterior. These are tick boxes in the wall properties. You just have to make sure you tick the correct faces.

Hi Allan,
Forcing the wall to be external is what I was after.

Thankyou
