I am working on a 2-story project. The problem I ran into was cutting the opening in the ceiling/2nd floor. I clicked on INSERT / ROOM DIVISION. Then I traced where the opening (on the 2nd floor) would be. Clicked on outline...it turned green. I clicked on DELETE, but the hole wasn't cut clean through to the first floor. I DID manage to cut the hole. But, I had to cut the opening, in the ceiling, on the 1st floor. But, I had to estimate where the opening, on the 2nd floor was placed, cut the opening. And size it to match the outline on the 2nd floor. It worked....a clean hole all the way through. I thought, that if I used ROOM DIVISION, and then clicked DELETE, the hole would automatically be cut.....all the way through. I must be doing something wrong.

Hi Gary,
The Room Divide tool is really for splitting a room in two or creating a different texture on the floor etc. There is an easier way to cut an opening although it is still a two step process.
Suppose you want to cut a hole in the Ceiling of the Ground Floor and a corresponding opening in the Second Floor floor above, do the following:
Go to Designer View and select the floor of the upper floor, right click and select Cut Opening. Cut the opening you want.
Now switch to the Ground Floor, select the Ceiling, right click and select Cut Opening. As you move over the ceiling you will see markers appear on the corners of the opening in the floor above the area also being slightly shaded. Cut the opening and it will snap to the corners, making an exactly the same size opening in the ceiling below. You will see the floor texture of the Ground Floor appear as you do the cut.
Depending on what you are trying to achieve, you can just use the underside of the floor, as the ceiling for the Ground Floor, so you only need one cut in that case.
