I want to add a sloping awning extending over two windows. I created a ceiling surface with the desired dimensions and slope, but there is no obvious way to elevate this to the required height. Should one start with a ceiling or is there a better way to add an awning which is cantilevered from the supporting wall?
To create an awning, you can use a Ceiling (by Picking Points), Roof (by Picking Points), the Surface tool or the Custom Member from Interior Accessories / Decorative (which can be sized, elevated and rotated to any angle).
If you made your awning using a piece of Ceiling (by Picking Points), you should be able to select it, right click and select Elevate to raise or lower it to the desired height.
If you made your awning with a Ceiling Surface (as you post seems to say), just enter Upper Point and then click the Lock symbol to lock the value - now you can set the Slope Value and the Lower Point will set itself.

Thanks Allan. As you surmised I had added a ceiling surface and your tips solved the problem nicely. While on the subject of awnings, is it possible to add so-called Dutch awnings i.e. the type which project in a 90 degree arc rather than the normal flat type, and if so how does one go about it?
I am not familiar with the Dutch awning that you mentioned but you can do almost anything with the program. Probably one of the roof types will do what you want. Insert it on location of its own and draw by Picking Points.
If you can provide a photo of one would help me to be more specific.

I think he's looking for something like the red/blue awning over the bench. Build it in TurboCAD and import it as a DXF/DWG?
Thanks to both Allan and John. John's photo is indeed of the type of awning known in U.K. as a Dutch awning. I have never tried building something in Turbocad and then importing it into TurboFloor, but unless Allan has a better suggestion I shall have a go and see what problems, if any, arise.
Actually this type of awning is easy to do in TFP. Just use the Roof Tool (by Picking Points), set 3 sides to Gable and the forth side to Arched. Set the Fascia, Thickness and Overhand to 1mm or fraction of an inch and use the Radius to adjust the curve desired. Best if it is inserted on its own Location so you can set its height easily (Wall Height on Location Settings).
The attached image was done this way and I have also included the settings I adjusted for the curved face.

If you want straight sections on it as in John's example use the Custom Type for the fourth edge.
It is generally preferably to use TFP objects if possible as some imported objects can cause problems and often can be very memory intensive.
