I started a new project, but have a few questions about the progress I've made. The steps I took : 1) I created the 2nd floor. Drew the edge of the 2nd floor back to where you see it in the pic. 2) On the 1st floor, I created the ROOM DIVISION. Put a wall against the "edge" where the 2nd floor stops. Set a door in the wall (just temporary). Now comes my question : Before creating the ROOM DIVISION, whenever I set the door in place, the 1st floor would look like drywall (the same color). When I "stepped back" to before inserting the door, the floor appeared "normal". So, apparently, I needed to insert the ROOM DIVISION in order for it to work. I can see it works, but I don't understand why. This is another case of where I continue my education. I'm not complaining. Being this was experimental to begin with. Against the far wall is where I want to put the stairs.

Hi Garystan,
Sorry but I do not understand the question or the purpose of the Room Division in your case. The Room division tool is so you can put different textures on the surface of a floor or wall in the same room, but there are other ways to do that so I have never actually had a need to use this tool myself.
I gather something happened when you inserted the door - maybe we need a before and after view to understand what happened.

I've used ROOM DIVISION before to split a floor into parts. Each part having its own material. But, this was definitely weird. Once I drew the ROOM DIVISION, the two "halves" of the floor were the same (I left it that way for now). As opposed "before" the ROOM DIVISION". Anyway........I just painted the wall, just to make sure THAT didn't effect anything else. The color is just temporary.

Are you saying that the two part of the floor were different and became the same when you drew the Room Division?

Just checked my project. Each half of that (total) floor area can be changed individually. I'm not sure what happened. Before inserting the door, the floor was the material shown in the pic. After inserting the door, the material changed to (the same color as ) the drywall material. After inserting the ROOM DIVISION, I was able to edit the floor....and continue. Unless, it was a glitch in the software. I sometime use ROOM DIVISION to select a part of the floor to change. My next step is check how it renders.
