Title: V17 Activation Code Installation Problem
Post by: broncot on May 26, 2014, 01:22:16 PM
Hello Forum,  I am new to this forum, but not new to the FloorPlan software.  I have been using FloorPlan v3 since the nineties to design floor plans for my eighteen retail locations. I have tried to use later versions of FP, but they do not import the older FP3 files properly so I stayed with FP3.  FP3 ran great in Windows 7 with XP Mode, but now that Windows 8 does not support XP mode I was forced to upgrade to v17.

Now here is the problem... I paid and downloaded and installed v17, the install shield accepted the Serial Number, and the subsequent launch of the program prompted me for the Activation Code. After entering the Code I got a "TurbFloorPlan is now Fully Activated" message.  Unfortunately, the program will not launch, and the Activation Code entry screen keeps popping up.  I have rebooted, reentered the Activation code several times, but to no avail.

Being a holiday weekend IMSI is not available, so I thought I would run this by the forum.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dale

Hi Dale,

Check the installation video in this page
http://www.imsidesign.com/Support/Overview/TurboFLOORPLAN-Support

If this doesn't solve your problem, I'd suggest to contact IMSI tomorrow

Patricia,

Thank you, but no luck there, so I will wait to hear from IMSI support.

Hi Dale,

You're welcome  :)

They have a chat and a telephone number for installation issues. Hope they can solve the problem. I am just a volunteer here so I don't know about activation, serial numbers, etc

The fix was way too obvious, or was that obscure?

This is the support email I received!

"The repeat request for activation  is caused by a lack of permission to write to the registry.  Try this:   Right-click on the TurboFloorPlan icon and choose "Run as Administrator"
This should allow you one time access to write the serial number/activation code data to the registry."

Problem solved!

Hi there,

Glad to know that the problem is solved.  :)

Usually this info is in the installation instructions, so I am surprised they didn't include this setting, but, as a matter of fact, the video isn't from a TFP program, so.....  ;)
