I spent a few hours last night, laboriously copying the second floor plan of my 20 yr old house into TFP, only to discover that I'd somehow set it up as a single storey project! I then went on to create the ground floor plans as well, in another project, in the hope that I might be able to import them both into a new blank project, of a 2 storey house. So my question is, can I do this and if so, how?

Hi Keith,
I assume you are talking about TFP V16, as you have posted in this section of the forum. If so, then the bad news is that you cannot copy/paste between projects. What you should have done was simply selected the Second Floor level (it is set up automatically when you start every project) and drew the second floor on that Location (they blend together in 3D).
There is good news however but still needs some rework unfortunately.
The best option I think is to Shift/Select any walls or other objects on the Ground Floor that are in the same place on the Second Floor and while all these walls and objects are selected, right click and choose Duplicate To Location. Choose Second Floor (obviously) and say NO if it asks whether you want to delete the ones you are duplicating (copying). Everything will be replicated on the Second Floor location. Obviously you then have to redo all the other walls etc that are different to the Ground Floor.
If your upper floor is very complex, then you could export the upper floor as a DXF (File / Export / 2D Drawing). You could then import this into the project that contains your original Ground Floor. Use File / Import / Object Wizard, select the exported DXF file and move the DXF import so it exactly lines up with your Ground Floor walls. You can then use this DXF file as a trace layer to redraw the walls from your second floor project. The new walls will snap to the corners of the DXF object. If the upper floor is VERY complex, this may save time, but I doubt it. It does not take long to redo something you have done before and you can have both projects open at the same time, so you can see the other one to read dimensions and check placement of things as you draw them again.
