Hi, I just bought TurboFloorPlan 2015 PRO, and I am trying to find my way through the program, the tutorials and the manual.
I am working on a design with a lot of solar gain ( See attached image ). Because of the danger of overheating, I want to have clerestories over the central part of the house ( lounge, weaving studio, kitchen/dining )... these should ensure there is enough ventilation, and they should get light to the back of the house, since the back wall will be completely blind.
Now, this central section obviously needs "cathedral ceilings", but I can't get rid of the ceilings that were automatically generated when putting the rooms together in quick start.
I clicked on the ceiling in the 3D image, and tried delete.... the program thought about it for a few minutes, (progress circle), but then abandoned the action.
Second question : The roof over the patio should be transparent ( polycarbonate sheets, or corrugated sheets like LaserLite ), but I can't find such material in the material list.... Is there a way to import it from somewhere else ?
Third question : I didn't succeed in letting the sun shine on my new house.... I would like to see if I have enough overhang...
Regards,
Jef
Hi Jeff,
regarding your questions
1 - How to show / hide the ceilings => select the room (click inside the room) => Tool options bar (right bar) => unselct the "show ceiling" option => see attached.
2 - If you don't find the desired material in the libraries => look for a picture of the material => File => Import => Material to library. BTW: look for links to free websites for importing textures and objects in my Facebook page (address in my signature)
3 - Sunshine: Not sure what do you mean by 'letting the sun shine on my new house"? => in order to set the sun / shadows => use 3D => 3D rendering => lighting => Lighting => set the sun position (direction and angle), shadows (default is full intensity) and for more precision, don't forget to set the Global sun position (related with your location and time of the year). The real sunshine and shadows will appear as you render the image.
Hope this helps
Patricia
Hi Patricia,
Thanks very much for the super speedy reply.
I have bought and downloaded your "basic and advanced" e-book, and hope it will keep me from asking too many stupid questions...
1. how blind must I have been.... going through the manual, looking for ceilings, whilst it was staring me in the face in the program.
3. I somehow expected the lighting to apply in real time, didn't think of rendering.... is working fine.
2. I'm not on Facebook... are the same links available in your importing-exporting e-book ?
Regards,
Jef
Hi Jeff,
You're welcome for my answer and thank you for buying my e-book! :)
1 - Don't worry, as with any program, TFP has a learning curve.
2 - In LiveView, you can use the render Preview button (outlined in red in the image attached) to see the real time results on the screen
3 - You don't need to be in Facebook to access my page, it is a public (open to all) page. Just go to https://www.facebook.com/punchhelpers.links and look for the links.
Patricia
Once more a big thank you.
Jef
You're welcome! :)
