Trying to replicate a vaulted ceiling situation in my home. Have a room that has 18' ceilings. One wall is completely open below 9' due to an I-Beam header that is not visible either in the ceiling of the adjoining room or on the wall. I have achieved the open issue by creating an open door the entire with of the opening raised to 9'. However, at the Endpoint on the outside wall, there is a small "bump out" where the support of the "door" would be. However, I want to eliminate that "bump out" altogether but haven't figured out a way of doing it or is there another way of achieving what I trying to do. THanks
Hi there,
I will be glad to help, but I am not sure if I understand the issue. Can you post a screenshot of the problem?
Patricia
Screenshot1 - Looking into a corner from an 18' ft ceiling to where it transitions to an area with 9' ceiling and an area that on the top 9' is actually angled at 45degrees. This was achieved by doing an 18 ft wall and then using the door tool to create an opening by making it a gigantic door. Two problems, you can still see the part of the door at the end point. If I drag it too far, I get an error message that says it is too large.
Second issue with this approach is there are walls behind this in TFP and I can't drag a window on to this wall with out it automatically selecting the door. Can't just select the wall at this point.
Screenshot2 from a different angle. I need to create the same angled wall on the right side with identical window.
Screenshot3 - From a lower angle. Also, FYI - when I initially put in the angled wall on the right side there was a an area in the corner that had a void in it at the bottom. I filled that in with an elevated floor in the same triangular shape. This may be confusing as it is difficult to explain.
Screenshot4 is the 2-D used to create this
I am not sure if I am really understanding the problem.
Why do you need the wall in the lower floor? You can create a 9' wall in the upper floor
To select the wall in the upper floor, you can select it in 3D using the "Select objects in 3D" tool, or if you prefer, you can select or add your window in Elevation View
If you wish, feel free to post your PRO file (although the PRO format is not listed, you will be able to upload it)

I did try to put in a 9' wall on the 2nd floor. However, when I did the 3D view, it eliminated the vaulted ceiling altogether. If I were to put all of the upper walls as 9' ceilings on the 2nd floor, is there a way to cut the floor between floor 1 & 2?
Absolutely. Actually, I think that it is the correct procedure: draw the 9 ft walls in the second floor and hide the necessary floors / ceilings so the vaulted ceiling would be visible.
How to show / hide the floors / ceilings => select the room (click inside the room) => Tool options bar (right bar) => unselect the "show ceiling" or "show floor option" => see attached.

Thanks for the help. Of course, I tried to do a fairly complex design right off the bat w/o out knowing the basics, my typical strategy. To get the hang of it, I tried a new but very simple design. A combination of turning off the "show floor/ceiling" and then using the floor cut-out on the second level allowed me to do what I wanted to do. Analogy; I tried to add the second layer to the cake after eating half the first layer while spreading the icing. Should have started simpler, room by room, got the basic structure in place, etc.
You are welcome!
Glad to know that the problem is solved and the "cake" looks fine (LOL) ;D
