Title: 3DS Importing
Post by: RandyJ on February 22, 2015, 07:49:56 PM
Hello, I have discovered that the import process does import the texture by reading on your site. I used ANIM8OR to create the Weathervane, Tried BLENDER 2.69 But had scaling issues and distorations. Also if you notice the O and the 4 letter is messed up. I guess I just am asking for any advice on these little problems Thanks

I think that there is a misunderstanding because, as I stated in my tutorial http://www.punchhelpers.com/3ds_files.htm the 3DS files imported in the program don't include the textures.

There are many issues with the 3ds files because some objects are not generated as binary files so, when you try to import them, you will find that some parts are missing, as you verified. The problems are in the 3ds files, not in TFP

Try to reduce polygons and save as 3ds binary

Ya I meant to say the textures do not import. That is to bad. Is there anyway TFP will import obj files in the future. It would be nice to import textures. Maybe a feature request? Also reading your ebooks I see there is a animation information. But I do not see any animation feature with TFP 2015? Am I missing something? Oh and but the way did buy the import/export ebook. Thanks

Thank you for buying my eBook!  :)

To clarify the issue:
As I stated in another post, Punch develops programs with different brands and different features.
So far, I wrote 9 eBooks and 4 second versions, for different brands / programs / versions / languages. The 4 eBooks included in my  "Learning Punch Software (R)"  series cover all the Punch and TFP programs and all the features.  However, not all the TFP / Punch programs include all the features.
As you know, I am just an experienced user, and I don't work for Punch or IMSI. So I don't know if IMSI plans to add any importing feature.

Perhaps, if the IMSI people read this post, they will answer your question  :)

Ya OK, hopefully in the future they will get a animation feature. I am doing some importing and learning to apply textures in a different ways. This image i was just messing around a bit.
