I'm using TurbFloorPlan 3D Home & Landscape Pro 2015 (Version 17). I am working on plans for modifying my home that must be approved by our historic district; so specific detail is important. I need to show the detail of the fancy shingles on the front of the house. Also, I don't think the option of importing an actual photo of the real shingles would work well. In TFP Materials/Standard/Siding they offer square, round & octagon shingles, but not diamond shingles. Every attempt to use power tool/3D Custom workshop to start with the octagon shingles and modify them to diamond has failed.
My first question is can I even use the 3D Custom Workshop to modify materials? And, if so, how do I open the individual material? If not, then my second question is if there is a way to access one material image to copy and modify in a simple graphics editor and bring it back in so that the scale is consistent with the provided materials?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

The 3D Custom Workshop is a power tool intended to create or modify objects, not materials
In order to import materials use => File => Import => material to library => you can import a picture of the actual material, resize it and define the seam / blend options

Hello. something I ran across was you can edit the material somewhat. If you click on materials and then pick the material you are interested in and then right click it will give you a menu to edit details for the the material. There are some settings there. It may be useful.

There is an important distinction between editing a material and resizing the texture.
When you import a new material, the program will ask you to define the dimension of the module of the texture. By default it is 72"x72", but you can change it to fit. For example, if you have a texture showing a square with 4 tiles (H) x 4 tiles (W) and the dimension of each tile is 12 x12", the size of the module of this texture texture will be 48"x48". Now, if you decide to change the size of the tiles, to 6"x6", you can resize the module to 24"x24".
If you wish to resize the module after you imported the texture, you can do so by right clicking on the thumbnail of the desired material.
In the image attached, you can see two different sizes of the same material. In this case, is the manufacturer's library: each module is composed by one tile => 12"x12" on the left and 18"x18" on the right.
Now, the resizing process is the only modification that you can do by right clicking the thumbnail of the material.
You can't edit the materials' characteristics (shape, color, etc) within the program. Therefore, in order to set a diamond shingle as requested by the OP, the only option is importing a new material
