Dear all,
I've downloaded the trial version of TFP but when I try to install I get to screen asking me for a serial number. Does anybody know where I look for this or where to get it from?
Many thanks
Hi Merv,
Welcome to the TFP forum.
If I recall when I first downloaded it, it did the same for me and I just said OK (or whatever) and it just carried on but said I had 15 days to go.
If you do purchase the program then you will be given the serial number etc. and you do not need to download it again. The trail is the full version. I just entered the serial number etc provided (which it requested again after the 15 days).
If you have any odd things happen when you start using it, go to Settings/Program Setttings/Graphics and turn off Hardware Acceleration. Depends on the PC but on some it causes all sorts of odd problems.
It is also good to go through each of the tabs on the Program Settings so you can see what the defaults are, change any that do not sound like the way you would prefer to work, or preferably, practise a bit first at least in the knowledge of what you can change. It is good also to get used to the Settings/Locations as these control the vertical aspects of the 3D model.
You will find it is a fascinating program to use once you get used to it.
All the best
Allan

Dear Allan
Thanks for your advice. I've just managed to find the serial number ( found two actually but one was incorrect) I searched on Google and voila!
So am just going to have a look at the prog now. I've a small bungalow in Devon (UK) and want to convert the loft. I'm not too good at visualising paper plans so am hoping this will help.

Merv,
I certainly should help.
For a loft make sure you get the Locations settings right. For example, if you have a sloping ceiling on short walls them set the Wall height to that and the ceiling to Cathedral. If the walls slope right to the floor them the wall and ceiling height should be onlya fraction of an inch. The default setting is for walls to extend to the roof so you can still insert doors etc.
If you get stuck just ask.
My wife wants to one to Devon! The cold would kill me I think. It was 46 degrees C here the other day (115 F) and something similar tomorrow. One place a little further north had 49 degrees C (121 F)!
