Hello Patricia!
Sorry so long away.  Had trouble with the city, they forgot to install sewer stub out. So they said. We went finally to city commission meeting and won our complaint. Two and half months later it has been installed at there cost. Installed three days ago. So here we go......

Hi Patricia.

Well, we actually have the plan from paper to the ground. Reality! The white lines are wall lines. We have perimeter marked out to dig the footings in. There will be 4'8" high block walls on the footings. 1/2 Rebar vertically every 4' with a bond beam on bottom and top. This is just the back corner of house

Hi Randy,

Nice progress!  :)

Winter and construction can be complicated, right? Not sure how cold the fall / winter are in North Dakota. Do you need to stop the construction?

Hi Patricia. I am from Montana and I am amazed at how cold it gets in North Dakota. -30 degrees and it stays that way. Canadian Winter Blast. We will go until we can not. If we get out of the ground and get to the walls we can go longer.

Hi Patricia,

We have gravel here. I guess it was a lake bed long ago. The steel bars are rebar and they call the bars J- bar. The J-Bar is wired to the horizonal rebar so that it suspends the rebar off the ground. I have never seen anything like that. what I usually see and do is set the rebar (wetstick they call it) after the pour is done. But I guess code is code.

Hi Patricia Ya the foundation is 48' x 40 times two of course by 8" deep. Will take around 8 yards of 3500 psi concrete The steel is #4 re-bar.I really do not know why they call it that. Raining today so no pour.

Hello. Well got a little more done. We poured 7 yards of 3500 psi concrete yesterday. The weather held for us. Next step is the block walls.

Hi Patricia, well I feel like it is going slow. The battle with the city over the sewer cost us the whole summer, but we are on our way now. Onward Ho as they say!

Sometimes, construction is not a straight line, but, the important thing is that it is progressing!  ;)
