I would like for my walls to have inside shading like a light gray or blue with a definite outline on the edges.
I have enabled solid fill and have the 2D core set to the shade color. It looks OK and is solid but there is no distinct outline. I would like to have the line on both sides of the 2D wall and the fill in between the lines.
Is this possible?

Yes it can be done but may involve other adjustments.
What you need to do is turn off Solid Fill the go into the walls themselves and assign a Pattern (Wall Properties Dialog- Appearance tab). The first Pattern in the Select list is Solid. Select that and change the colour to grey or whatever you want.
This will fill the Core with the solid colour chosen but will only display in Pattern View. If other Patterns appear that you do not want to show, you will have to change them to None (second in the Pattern list).
You MAY find that you can now see the edge line but maybe not - if it is too fine. You can overcome this by turning on Line Weights (Settings/Program Settings/Workspace) which will probably make the line bolder. In the example image I have changed the Linestyle in the Wall Properties to a Heavy Continuous - Red line, so that it stands out, so you may also have to adjust the Wall's Linestyle settings to get the effect you want. When printing you must also set it to Print Line Weights in the Print dialog.
The only problems with these options is that you will only actually see the fill, if Pattern View is used. Also, by turning on Line Weights, you will find that ALL Line Weights are turned on (not just Walls) so you might have to edit the Line Style of many other items to get the overall effect you want.
