Quick question - does TFP 3D Pro allow XYZ data input to define the topography of the land (landscaping)?
I have a very sloping site and measuring is easy enough, but I kinda just want to bang the numbers in on a 2m grid basis and go from there.

yes, you can do this in different ways:
- drawing the topo curves manually (you can define the distance between the curves as well as the elevation of each curve)
- importing a topo map (DWG / DXF)
- Creating berms and / or slopes

Does "topo curve" mean "contour line" as on a map?
Essentially, I will be laying out a grid of markers on the ground either:
1) every 2m:
OR
2) following feature edges;
(the latter seems more sensible but the former is easier to do without resorting to a laser totalstation). Then I'll be measuring the height from a laser level line over the whole area at dusk - so I'll have a bunch of (x,y,z) coordinates.
Do you think this going to be a big hassle getting them into TFP - or fairly easy?
The site in question has compound slopes all over the place with sudden changes for paths and where the house is - it's quite complicated. What I want to do is represent what we have, then explore how we can change it with some hard landscaping.

Yes, using points, lines, polygons, etc (see image attached)
Regarding the tools: it is hard to explain because each case is different and you are not using the program yet, however, I think that the process is pretty straight forward. You will be able to visualize the concepts by checking the images (linked in my post above).
