I found my old thread from this event last time so I am sure it is the same answer ... this is a real pisser and pretty poor design in the SW.
My catalog was vertical on the right side and suddenly flipped and is now across the top. I can not pick it anyplace to move it.
How do I get it back to vertical on the right?
Aggravating !
Hi Rex,
Yes, Aggravating is the word to describe it >:( and makes it almost useless to use. :(
There is a TINY spot on the upper left corner of the catalogue panel that will control this and you have obviously accidentally found it! The challenge now is to find it again! ::) It is very tiny, maybe only a pixel or two wide, and very hard to locate. I know some have had to resort to reinstalling the program to get it back to normal. If you do that, don't forget to back up all your projects, catalogue (if you have modified elements) and Textures folder (if you have created your own textures).
Sorry there is no good news on this one.
Allan
I had to reinstall again.
There may be a spot but I will bet anyone $100 that they can not find it on mine. I spent 30 minutes again and have my range select to 1 pix. I also have a high res mouse. All I can find on the "hot spot" is at just the right location I get a "close" box to pop-up.
If I knew what file had the position data it would be a simple fix to just replace the file ... any idea what file controls this? Since it can be changed I would guess it is with some preferences or global settings.
I thought you would end up reinstalling. Very few have found the point. I suspect it is there by mistake rather than intent - if it was intentional they would surely make it visible also. When I was programming applications I often had secret buttons to opperate on a double click or right click but always removed them before releasing the program so others did not accidentally trigger them.
Sorry but I have no idea what file controls the position. The panel can be turned on and off in Settings of course, but unfortunately doing that doesn't trigger it to go back to the right.

Allan can you go to these folks and ask what file controls this? If we find that we can have a back-up of it and a simple fix. In my limited experience this is the second time and I am quite confident that I did not cause this with a mouse click. There is something strange then it happens.
Even in the vertical right side position I can not find that spot.
Allan have you made any progress on that file with them?
