Title: What program can configure both bitmaps and DXF files for plan printing?
Post by: Gregm329 on May 19, 2016, 07:53:02 PM
Please excuse me if this question has been asked a million times.

I'm using Turbo Floor Plan Home & Landscape Pro 2016 and I have successfully drawn my existing house and my proposed add-on to same.  Now I need to set up several views like the front elevation, the overhead view, and some detail views for some construction areas, in an 18" X 24" format for print-out.

For the 2-D and 3D views, it seems the way to go is output separate bitmap files for each view.  But some of my detail drawings will be in DXF format from another CAD program.

So, don't I need a program that will read both bitmap and DXF files so I can combine and layout the files for print?

What have you all used, or am I not understanding the better way?  Thanks!

Hi Greg,

I will be glad to help but I am not sure what do you mean / need? ???
Are you trying to export the TFP model? are you trying to print to scale? are you trying to export plans to DWG / DWXF? are you asking how to develop elevations? are you asking about how to use TFP or are you asking for another program's recommendations? What type of document are you trying to create?

I need to produce house plans , showing several views of my design, on paper in 18" X24" min. size format, to submit to my local building so I can receive a building permit for construction.

Can I accomplish that using just TFP?

If not, yes, I was asking if any one could recommend a different program that could organize views output from TFP.

This morning, I plan to experiment with an old program, Paint Shop Pro 8.  It can read DXF files.

Hi Greg,

Thank you for clarifying what you need. Yes, you can produce all your documents using just TFP.

Floor plans => you can:
1 - Print to scale => File => Print => Scale => you can print to paper or to PDF.
2 - Export to DXF or DWG => File => Export => DXF / DWG => drawings will be scaled.
3 - Export to jpg, bmp, png, etc. => File => Export => 2D Drawings => drawings won't be scaled.
More details => The "Printing Floor Plans" section starts at page 34 of the User's Guide.

Elevations and Cross Sections => you can:
1 - Visualize your elevations and cross section using => Elevation View => File => Print 3D View => print to scale
More details => The "Printing an Elevation View" section is located at page 38 of the User's Guide.
