Title: Changing the length of one wall
Post by: ChecMark on November 17, 2016, 05:48:55 PM
The guide says to select the right tool which I did then select the wall and enter the new length. If the "linked" s checked then all adjoining walls will also move. I unchecked this and entered the new length for the wall but the wall perpendicular also moved on an angle to the new endpoint. If I click the "linked" it moves all walls correctly but not if I uncheck it.

Appreciate any help.

Nope, this is not how it works.

User's Guide => "Changing Segment Length" => Page 124

Thanks, Patricia. Starts on page 129 n my user's guide but it says exactly what I tried. If the "linked" is unchecked then it should not move the adjoining wall, no?

Not really. If the walls are linked, you can't inform the program that they are unlinked.
Did you try to select a wall end and move the point using the arrow keys?

Yes. Again the wall extends but the connecting wall is now on an angle.

Unlink the wall segment or move the perpendicular segment

I read through the walls section of the User Guide again and still can't find what I went looking for the first time I wanted to extend one wall. Other programs often call it a break to isolate the one wall. I can't find any such command in TFP. You say to "unlink the wall". That is what I thought I was doing when I unchecked the "linked" box but it still moved the adjoining wall.

Unlink the wall segment or move the perpendicular segment or resize the wall manually or use the # tools

I am using the tool (second one down) that calls up the dimension when you click on the wall you want to lengthen. I unclick the "linked" which I assumed would only lengthen the wall I have selected, but as soon as I enter the new dimension and return the wall perpendicular to it is now on an angle to the new endpoint. All I am trying to do is lengthen the one wall and leave the rest alone.

Did you try the Wall (Custom Length) feature?
