Newbie looking for a lot of help on v2017. Although I have posted some specific questions and found some things, I wondered how exactly does the search function work? For example, I wanted to know the total square footage of my design but couldn't find this anywhere in the user's guide, so I typed "square footage" into the search. No results. I typed "area". No results. I even tried "total". No results. Does this mean that there will only be search results if someone has used the specific terms in a post subject? Does it not search the body of messages for the term?
Appreciate any help.
Probably nobody asked about the area of the design.
Although this forum contains lots of information, I can't say the it contains the answers to all the questions.
Perhaps, instead of searching the forum, you should search the User Guide?
The user guide is a PDF file, so it is very easy to find the answers. The search tool is outlined in green in the magnifier. As you can see, I searched "square foot" (outlined in red in the image attached) and I found the answer to your question (pointed with a red arrow in the image attached)
Thanks. Yes, as I posted earlier I pretty well know the User Guide by heart by now. The problem I have with it is it will say to use a certain tool, for example the commander bar, but it does not tell you where to find any tools. There's one that says use the "drag along the wall" tool. What tool? Where are the tools they refer to? To me the User Guide assumes you know how the programmers think and you understand the basics of the program from earlier versions. I don't think that is the case at all.

Page 137 in my guide. Under Adding Windows. I think the commander bar may have been in a video and might have referred to an earlier version?

Where do you see a Drag Along tool mentioned?
I started with this program using version 3 and 4 (2001), I wrote 15 eBooks, I am a Beta tester and I can tell you that the program (any title, any version, any OS) never included something called "commander bar".
The tutorials don't include elements belonging to older versions
That phrase about using the "drag along wall" tool is in several places in the guide including placing doors. The video tutorial I watched shows the object, such as a cabinet, in light green moving along the wall but I have no such thing in my version.

No, at the time I did not know that and that's why I went looking for the commander bar. I gather it's not in the 2017 version.
Until version 16, Turbofloorplan was developed with certain codes, interface, features, etc. These programs were discontinued in 2014.
After this, starting with version 17 and until now, TFP is being developed using new codes, new interface, new features, etc.
This is the reason why the Forum is divided in two parts =>
- General Category - V.17 - 2017 => for the current versions, up to version 19.
- General Category - V.16 and Earlier => for the old (discontinued) version.
The current version is manufactured by other company, and sold with other names since 1998. These programs are my area of expertise.
The current version include different bars. You can see the bars and their names in the chapter name "A Quick Tour" that starts in the page 21 of the user guide. And no, none of them is called commander bar.
Just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all your great help, Patricia. Any company would be lucky to have someone as knowledgeable and helpful as you in their tech support. Unfortunately with all the issues I have had right from major problems even downloading and installing the program to all the things that are not working and are not very intuitive I have asked for a refund and I'm going to go in a different direction. After more research I realized that this program is just not going to give me the type of illustration I need for my project.
