Hi, i am currently using the wall tool and a different floor level to close in skillion/gable ends. does anyone know how this affects the estimation? On external walls i use the gable wall type and set the heights, angles etc to height which is fine, its when there is a step in the roof in the centre of the building, with no wall underneath.

Not sure what do you mean? If you put any wall, the Estimator will include the wall in the BOM (Bill of Materials)
TFP, as any program, has a learning curve. The best way to learn the program, IMO, is practice + practice + practice => Read and follow the manual (this is important), see the videos => try to create elements not related with your project, so you will become familiar with the commands and how to develop the different components.

Practice makes perfect you are correct. I'm picking it up again from the older version of TFP before it became a punch product so there are some differences I'm finding out about as I go. In this particular instance, i guess i'm concerned that if i use the wall tool to fill in a roof gable it will include the interior side i.e. drywall in the BOM. obviously it would need to include the exterior side for cladding purposes but the interior side will be in the roof space and wont need any drywall. The older program had a gable end fill in tool in the roof section, i cant seem to find a similar button in this new one. The old TFP (V12 to 16) and the new TFP (V17 and up) are two very different programs, with different commands, tools and premises. So, I'd suggest to learn this as a new program.
Gable end: You can use a gable wall with H= 0.5 cm
