Title: Cannot get old floorplan active again
Post by: WimYogya on November 28, 2017, 11:32:10 AM
Hello,

A few years ago I made a TurboFloorplan with 2015 and converted it later to 2016. But since the building plan never could be realized I did not  open it in the past few years - in fact I did not use TFP at all.
But starting a new plan, I would like to 'pick' certain elements from the old plan. I could open it - but that's about all. I can NOT select or copy or change any of the elements - not even get their ideas.

Can anything be locked or inactive?
What should I do in that case?

I am just an amateur - do not expect more than very basic knowledge about TFP: much has been forgotten and must be reactivated as well.

Thanks for helping,
Regards,
Wim (73)

Hi there,

This is odd. It is supposed to work.
Can you post your "PRO" file? => you can attach it to your answer (but you need to "zip" it first). If you can add screenshots showing the items that you can't select, it will be easier for me to visualize the issue.
Also, can you provide information regarding your computer (OS, memory, video card, etc.)

Hello Patricia,

First of all: thanks for your willingness to help me by inspecting my file.
Second: I zipped the file but could NOT send it, it is 5+ GB, more than the Forum allows. Send it somewhere through WeTransfer perhaps? Don't worry that I will disturb your privacy...
Third: My failed attempt to send you the file, also deleted my complete response...

So please find a small attachment with a snipping of my home hotel project, with a corner of a (planned) guest room and the outside aircon device that I wanted to select to see its properties. This and other elements could not be selected at all. With ONE exception: a few walls. They were highlighted when I clicked them and I could change the dimensions - had I wished to do so.

Here is my computer configuration again:
Windows PC with Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
Processor: Intel Core i3-2100 CPU @ 3.10 Ghz
Graphic Card: Intel HD Graphics w 1696 MB total Memory.

When creating this '(b)locked' project I had the same pc.

Thanks for helping,
Regards from Indonesia,
Wim

Hello Wim,

You're welcome! :-)

You can send the file via WeTransfer to punchhelpers(at)punchhelpers.com  => replace (at) with @

Also, can you inform about your computer's RAM?

Hi Patricia,

Sent! See your mail.
Also: I forgot to mention before: 8 GB RAM & Windows 64-bit version.

I hope you can find/solve anything,
Thanks!
Wim

Hi Wim,

Important note: TFP V15 and V16  and TFP V2015 and V2016 are not the same programs and they are not compatible.
In your original post, you mentioned V2015 and V2016 => this is why your post was moved to this section. However, I just opened your file and the format is .bld, therefore, you have TFP V16.

My specialty is TFP V17 to V2017 so, the moderator will move the post and help you with your problem.

Hi Patricia and Hi Moderator!

Good news: drop the alert!
I found the issue - it was very basic, but it was all toooooooo long ago to remember it.
When I saved the program long ago, thinking it was finished, I used the FILTER VIEW to make ALL items unselectable!
Just while working with my new project and re-mastering all features step by step I came across the filter view and then the light went on again!

So I made all items selectable again and all works ok!
Sorry for having bothered you for nothing.

Greetings,
Wim

Well, in fact the problem was not solved, but non-existent.

Well, apart from (I think) ONE minor issue:
The 'old' home hotel project contained a few cars, on projected parking spots.
But THOSE are un-selectable.
And even more: in the exisiting library I can NOT find any cars. Car, automobile, vehicle do not return any search results.
I completely forgot how I managed to add cars to my previous project - so that I can do it again, in this newly started project.

Any idea how I did it and can do it again?

I sent an email to the Moderator on 11/30 asking for help regarding this post. Let's wait for his answer.

Hi Patricia and Wim,

Sorry about the delay - I did not get your earlier email Patricia, possible because I just switched to a new phone (I do all my email and most other things on the phone these days). Your email probably fell through the crack between the two phones!! Anyway I am up and running again, so to your question Wim re the cars.

First I am wondering if the reason you cannot select them is same reason as why you could not select anything before. By default a car is inserted on the Terrain. If you have the Terrain objects unselectable, then you would still not be able to select them even  though you made everything selectable in the "Elements on Location" tab. In View Filter select the "Elements on Terrain" tab and make sure everything there is Selectable.

You will find a couple of cars under the "Exterior Accessories on Terrain" button and the sub-section "Other Outdoor Items".
If you are looking for some better quality cars, I may be able to send you the ones in the image below as a BIM file but because they are higher resolution they may test out your Core 3 processor and Intel Graphics, making the model a bit slow to edit. If that was to happen you could turn them off in the view filter when they are not needed.

If the 'selection' problem is not solved by the suggestion above let me know.

After you reply to this I will move the post back again to the correct section of the forum.

Regards,
Allan
