Title: No Automatic Floor, Ceiilng or Rooms for Some Areas

TurboFloorPlan Home & Landscape Pro 2016

Hi,
I am drawing an existing house and have done the walls for one floor (and the basement). There are 2 areas on floor 1 that do not have a floor or ceiling and I cannot figure out why. On the attached plan, I have highlighted (selected) the rooms that work.

I have checked the walls and they are all flat walls, have the same object elevation of 300mm, same height of 2700mm, but different thicknesses. Other rooms that work have different thicknesses.

What am I missing here?

Hi there,

each room must be an enclosed space, otherwise, the automatic floors and ceilings won't work.

I apologize for not having come back sooner. Your message reminded me that I do indeed have your ebook dated April 2015. I started reading it again. Excellent information!

However, my problem is just a little strange. The room does have walls on 4 sides. I think that the problem is with one side (bottom of screen in first attachment) where half of the room is an outside wall, the rest at the right is an inside wall with a different thickness.

In the first image, I have the interior wall (in yellow) abutting the exterior wall. The left and right walls of the room extend to the outside walls. The room is not defined as a room - no ceiling.

However, if I extend the internal wall along the external wall to meet up with the next internal wall at the left, I get a room. Attachment 2. This messes up the door that is to the bottom left of the image as it is in the external wall. I should hot have to overlap walls to get the ceiling to work..

There must be something that I am doing wrong in joining up the interior wall with the exterior wall.

Any ideas?

Glad to know that you like the eBook!  8)

I always recommend to create the exterior walls as an enclosed polygon (pages 38/39 of the eBook). Once the exterior walls are fused, they define the exterior / interior space.
In addition, once you defined the exterior walls and you start to add the interior walls, you must confirm that the interior walls are integrated with the exterior walls => if the walls are integrated and you click inside the room, the interior space (in the floor plan) will become yellow.

For example, in the first image, note the end of the wall (yellow dot) => as it this end is not integrated, the rooms are not complete. In the second image, I moved the dot down and now, you can see the complete room.

Thanks again for looking at this.

I understand how it works, but there is a problem with what I have and need.

I started a new project similar to my main project, did the outside walls first at 400mm thick and then some inside walls at 140 thick. All areas show up as rooms except the one affected by the wall that has a different thickness from one part to another. I think that we'll have to put this down to a bug.

In the first image, I have circled where the 140mm wall meets the 400mm wall. There is no room defined in the area indicated. Extending the left yellow dot to the left so that there is an overlap does nothing. No room defined.

In the second image, I moved the wall down in 10mm increments until the room showed up after moving the wall 60mm. This is circled. I now have a room showing. As you can see, this is not what I want. The upper part of the 140mm wall has to be flush with the inner face of the 400mm wall as shown in the first attachment.

I suggest that you try it.

Hi John,

It is not a bug. It happens that in this case, the point of attachement must be in the axis of the wall, not the surface.

Hi Patricia,

No, that doesn't help as the walls need to be flush at the inside. If I drag the end of the thin wall up to the next cross wall, then it works, but the door/window opening to the outside gets blocked by the other wall. To overcome this, I put the door on the inner wall and a cased opening on the outer wall. Not ideal, but it works.

Of course, if one is counting material (not my case), then this falsifies the information. I agree that this is not a "bug" but it is an oversight that the programmers should have foreseen. It should be corrected by IMSI. Interior walls are not usually the same thickness as exterior walls. My version is too old to be covered by Support, so I cannot raise the issue with them. Could you?

They should correct this for the next version.

The issue is exactly that (your version number).
Current versions work fine with walls featuring different thickness.

I'm back on this and looking to upgrade from 2016 to be able to resolve my room problem. You mentioned version 2021, but that is only for Mac. For Windows there is 2020. Are they the same? Will 2020 Windows version help resolve my problem?

2020 is now 2 years old. I asked IMSI if a newer version was coming out sometime in the near future and received no reply, other than a ticket was opened.

Do you know if they have stopped development of this product (Home & Landscape Design Pro)? The product looks neglected.

The release was called 2020 but the version is V21, as you can see in the image attached. The Mac program is also V21.
