Title: Odd "planes" in 3D object

Hi Pat,

I have made an object (chair 1.png attached) which has a aluminum square tubing frame using the 3D Custom Workshop and found when I drag it into the 3d image it has a couple of unintended "planes" appearing that don't show when in the 3D Custom Workshop module.  Can you advise what I have done wrong in the drawing of the chair frame to get these "planes" to show up?  And how to correct it?

Also, is there an easy way to bend tubes, shafts or square tubing?  I can't seem to get anything to look right without hours of work.

Can you share the POB?
To do this => place the POB in a PRO file => save the PRO file => zip the file => attach the file / post on the forum.

Hi Pat,

I have made a small house and inserted the problem chair object into the floor plan.  I think I have followed your instructions correctly.  If not, please advise.

I opened your file. I found some issues.
Did you create this chair from scratch or did you import the file?

I think I used a chair object similar to this from TFP 2017v and revised the seat cushions and bent the metal frame to a chair that we have.  I have had a lot of difficulty trying to bend various long "tube" shapes as needed for various frame works.

Hi Jeff,

I saw the problem as well as an additional issue, as you can see in the image below.

I confirmed these results with one of the programmers: if you take a 4 point plane and move / curve the points on different axes you'll get different results. So, you have points on different axes, therefore you must verify each point to solve the issue.

Regarding your question "is there an easy way to bend tubes, shafts or square tubing?" => create the curved segment using the "Revolve" Tool.

Hi Pat,

Thank you for your reply. The part of your first sentence "So, you have points on different axes, therefore you must verify each point to solve the issue" has me mystified.  Can you explain how to "verify each point" or refer to a page in either the User Guide or Pat's eBook for V2022 for help understanding this?

I do have your eBook for V2022 and will review the revolve tool. I have ben using the revolve tool for making circular objects which have a hole in the middle... i.e.  a "donut".  Can you bend a 6 foot long straight tube in the center (at 3 foot) and have a 3" radius at the bend?

If you have a 4 points plane on the X axis and one of the points was moved on the Y axis, you will see these phantom surfaces. To verify the points => edit each surface by points (page 434 of my eBook) and see if one of the points is out of the surface / axis.

To bend => adjust the curvature. Or create a separate piece for the curve using the Revolve tool (90°).
