Title: Problem changing materials and paint - 2024
Post by: JCBrown on March 25, 2025, 09:03:03 AM
Hi,
I started my project using 2016, got 2022, and now 2024 Pro. I just opened the project in each new version and continued, after doing a Save as with a new name, of course.

1. When I try to change materials of kitchen cabinets, sometimes it works, sometimes not. Sometimes the wall or some other element, like a radiators or door trim gets the new material. Same with paint - trying to get walls back to just paint usually does not work. I tried with a new quick project; no problem. Is my file corrupt somehow? If so, anyway to get it to work properly?

2. After opening a project, if I click on the 3D view window button, the program will hang and I have to use the Task Manager to exit. If I first select Split 2D/3D, no problem; then I can click on 3D View Window and it opens. A quirk. Anyone else have this problem?

3. For floors, I can't add a material. Do I have to draw something to do this? Same with ceilings - I can't paint them.

Thanks,

Hi there,

Try this:
Go to => Edit => Preferences => System => Graphics => Hardware Acceleration. By default, the level of the accelerations is "Full" => Move the control to the center and see if your issue is solved. If not, move the control to the left (None) => check if your issue is solved.

Hope this helps.

Hi Patricia,

That worked! I am now able to decorate cabinets, walls, and I have wooden floors.

However, point 2 persists.

One more thing that I was going to add. When naming a room, I can't use a capital R; it does nothing. Very strange.

Thank you,

Hi there,

Glad to know that now you can apply / change the materials on cabinets and floors.

Regarding point 2 and the capital R issue: please, submit a ticket to tech support ([email protected]) so they can check any hardware or installation problem.

Hope this helps.
