I have a 45 deg angled wall, and trying to get a angled base into it, but I can't use collision......it won't go in. I've selected all available choices for snap to for the cab. but I cna't get it into the corner unless I turn collision off.
Anything I'm over looking?
Mike
Mike,
What you are overlooking is probably the reason for the Collision switch. That is exactly what it is for, so you can override the automation when necessary, so what is wrong with turning it off? The only problem with collision off, is that you may have to zoom in close and use the Nudge tool (keyboard arrow keys) to move the unit exactly into place to line up with the other cabinets. The Nudge will by default be set to 1 inch or 25 mm but you can change this to a fraction of an inch (16th I think) or 1mm if you want (in Settings / Program Settings / Drawing Aids).
Generally it is best if you place the corner cabinet in first - you should not have a problem this way but if you already have the other cabinets in place, then, either turn off the collision detection, or simply move them out of the way, put in the corner one and then move the others back again. You can move them as a group if you select all, right click and select Move. When you move them back do so individually (with Collision on so they will automatically align) or as 2 groups each side of the corner unit.
You did say you have 45 degree angled walls - I assume you meant 90 degrees, otherwise the square cabinet would stick through the walls! With collision off you could do that of course but may not look good in the adjoining rooms!!!
Hope this helps,
Allan
With no other cabinets in place, the 135 deg. angled cabinet will not go into the 45 deg. andgled corner of the kitchen with collision on, and any switch including "none"......it just resists going in. I am familiar with nudging, however if the collision feature would work it would make work faster.
I don't know how to include a screen shot like I've seen others do so I can't show you, but as I try to move the cab. in place, it will only go so far, then it tries to turn itself, or it goes outside the wall...... : (
Thanks anyway. I've already placed the cabs manually, just wanted to see if theree was something I was doing wrong.

Hi Mike,
To place a screen view image on the Forum you can use the File/Export/2D image. Choose JPG and Size (eg 640x480) and give it a name etc. Then just click the Additional Options underneath the box where you type the message and attach the image.
It is good when you can see a plan of what people are trying to do, or even the BLD file at times for complicated things. It can be hard to visualise sometimes - just words can never tell the whole story!!

Ok, here's a try. The pic named AngleCab showes the 135deg angled cabinet wanting to attach to the wall ok on the top right, but as I try to drag it down and to the right to fit in the corner, it moves away from the wall as in the second pic.
The switch for snap behavior is off, and object snap on or off makes no difference. Only collision off allows me to move it in place.

Hi mike,
I think I have worked out why this is happening. Basically it is because of the angle of the cabinet. In previous versions of the software when you selected an object it was basically in a transparent 'box' that formed the 'boundary' of the object and the green selection indicator was the perimeters of this box.
In the image I have draw a black rectangle to simulate such a 'box' and you will notice, if you try, that it will always stay away from the wall, if you try to put the angled edge against it. If I drag the cabinet along the wall the corner of my 'box' always stays on the wall keeping the cabinet the same distance away. The second object in the image is an octagonal table lamp. It also stays away from the wall at the point of the simulated 'box'. If rotated one notch of the octagon, then it will go against the wall but when it meets the other wall it will bounce off again by the same distance as the point of the box.
Round objects behave the same way and unless their invisible 'box' is rotated 45 degrees you cannot get it to go against an angled wall. Try it with a round table. It is OK against horizontal and vertical walls on the plan because the 'box' is set this way. If it meets as 45 degree wall then the 'box' corner hits the wall and keeps it away. Rotate the table a quarter turn and it will go against the 45 degree wall but now it won't go against the horizontal and vertical ones.
So objects are apparently in a box, though not visible. You can of course set which side of the object snaps to a wall (Properties/behaviour tab) but this does not help in you case. This is obviously is the situation where you turn off Collision detection if the object cannot be rotated or if it fits into a corner - as with your cabinet.

Thanks Allan,
That makes total sense. I can stop pulling my hair out, and can accept that it's not that I am doing something wrong.
