I just purchased TurboFLOORPLAN Home & Interior and received a box with TurboFLOORPLAN Home Designer. It appears to have all of the same features. Can someone let me know what the difference is if any and why the discrepancy?

I did see 'TurboFloorPlan Home Designer v12' advertised on Amazon.com, but since the picture of the box still said 'Home and Interior' I assumed it was just an Amazon typo, (just like their cheaper version that doesn't need an operating system!!)
If your box says 'Home Designer' on the front then there is a Designer version - however there appears to be no mention of it on the TurboFloorPlan site.
May be they have renamed it. But in the past 'Designer' always signified a cut-down version - often without Photorealistic rendering, etc. So I would check this.
Perhaps someone from IMSI could comment (if they still read this Forum!)
As far as I know there are only 3 version - Home and Interiors (Designer), Landscape and Deck and Pro which has both.

Well, I got bold and went ahead with the installation since it looked in every way to be the same thing as "Home and Interiors". It definitely is a red box instead of orange and says "Home Designer" instead of "Home & Interior". It appears so far to be the same. I think it has the same rendering capability. I can't figure out how to add a floor after I've deleted the automatic one. The help documentation says to go to the Insert menu and choose Floors, but I don't even have that option. Any ideas?
There should be a tool bar with Walls, Doors, Windows, Room Divide, Floors, Ceilings, Roof etc. I may have the order slightly wrong as I am going by memory.
When you click the Floor icon you can insert in several ways. By Room may suit you best if you are going to have different floors in different rooms.

That concerns me because I don't have the Floors icon or a Floors option in the Insert menu. I tried turning off the Automatically Create Floors in the options thinking that might enable it but no such luck. What do I do?
This is odd. Interiors without floors does not seen very practical (except for tents!).
Presumably the tool bar is there with the other options I mentioned?
This is a very long shot but if Hardware Acceleration is on try turning it off. (Settings/Program Settings/Graphics). This has caused some odd effects but I doubt it would cause this.
Can you post a screen image showing the toolbar to see if there are other differences.

since the toolbars can be setup differently by each user, you might consider a screen shot compare of the menu most important to you that we can compare to ours.
see attached copy of my "file" and "insert" menus for TFP12 and see if different from yours.....most likely is you may not have the "landscape" tools?
(ignore colors tho because I have a non-std windows XP color scheme)
Thank you. Attached are my file and insert menus. I don't have the landscape modules, so I wouldn't expect to see those, but I'm concerned that I'm missing the Floors options. Shouldn't I be able to insert floors?
It does seem strange given the other things that are there - everything except floors!
Is it not on the toollbar either?
What if you start a totally new project?

No Floors icon in the toolbar either. I have tried starting new projects, restarting program, restarting computer. Any new ideas? I can't exactly live without the feature. I may have found another thing that's missing. The help files directed me to hide the trace image in View Filter, but I don't have the trace image row in the View Filter dialog. I attached my toolbar as well as the view filter images. Thanks for your help.

Googling for "TuboFloorPlan Home Designer" gives this press release (http://imsidesign.com/Home/InTheNews/September132007PressRelease/tabid/512/Default.aspx) which shows "Home Designer" was the original name for what is now "Home + Interior"
See also CADCourse (http://www.cadcourse.biz/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=47) where the description and box still shows "Home Designer".

The Trace will only be it the View Filter if you have a Trace location set up in that project.
Did you try the Hardware Acceleration switch?

Also suggest you try a wizard to build a house plan to see if that kicks in the floor stuff
Otherwise I'd be tempted to re-install....maybe a small install glitch dropped out a functionality????
Good idea. I'll try a reinstall when I get back home to my installation disk.
I tried the hardware acceleration and it didn't help with either issue.
If I do a design wizard, it generates the floors, and then I can divide them and delete sections I don't want, but if I goof up at all, I have to start over. I can't resize the floors (are you supposed to be able to?) and I can't create new ones.
If a floor is inserted by Pickig Points or if you but a hole in it you can certainly re-size it. See what the re-install does.
