After installing the patch for TFP the catalog will need to be converted.
Once you apply any of the TFP patches you will get a message (see image) upon your next execution of TFP that attempts from preventing you from loosing any custom catalog work which you may have done.
I would recommend you choose "Convert a Copy" (default) which will keep the orginaly in tact therby automatically creating a backup. This is important in case there is some type of problem or corruption moviing forward.
