Following are my findings when working with exterior and interior lights:
12. Exterior lights never get switched on (both when used inside and outside). Interior lights work correctly both inside and outside..
13. When using multiple lights (or double lights) in a room, some of thee lights remain off in normal display mode. This does work correctly in rendered
14. Lights are only switched on when the camera is in the same room at the same floor. This happens both in normal display mode and when rendering, and thus gives unrealistic results.
15. I have constructed a patio with wall lights. When the camera is raised above the patio wall, the image washes out.
