Title: How do I display my projects dimensions?
Post by: yiotta on February 27, 2009, 04:44:14 PM
After multiple searches on here, and reading the manual, I can't find the simple way to show my projects dimensions (wall lengths, room and window lengths, etc), without having to run manual lines all over the project.
I have TFP HLP v12.01.
I am looking to just have the dimensions on a 2D view that I can print on my printer and give to a draftsman to get some formal plans for an engineer to look over and then off for building permits.
Thanks for the help.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

You can turn the Auto Dimensions on at Tools/Dimensions/Apply Auto Exterior Dimensions.  At the same menu you can add interior and other liniar dimensions that you want. If you want to turn them off again use the Disply Filter (Eye icon) on the Notation tab.

There is also a Notations toolbar which may be turned off. Go to Settings/Toolbars) and turn it on. You will find Text and Dimensions is discussed in detail in Chapter 40 of the User Guide. Also if you press F1 it will bring up Help. Click the Index or Search and just type Dimensions into the box and enter. There are dozens of dimensions references listed.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info, I had already read through Chapter 40 and it didn't help.
Here is the dilemma. I have the floorplan completed.
What I would like is for all room/wall dimensions to be displayed.
Do I have to select each wall and dimension to get it to show me lengths?
Using as you stated, nothing happens unless I click on a wall, then only that one walls length is displayed.
???

Hi again,

Did you try Tools/Dimensions/Apply Auto Exterior Dimensions? This should just turn on all the exterior dimensions, even on a completed project.
