In earlier versions of FP3D you could adjust the colors of material textures applied by adjusting within FP3D.
I don't think that is possible in TFP12 (or 14 probably), at least I have not found it....but its easy to get what color textures you want....and hopefully everyone knows that you can fairly easily add any .jpg or .bmp image map to apply to any object (or use an existing .jpg, save a copy and adjust as needed using any paint type program, then save with a new name and apply within TFP)...if not, search this forum as I'm sure its been covered before.
BUT, HERE IS THE NEW SCOOP....
The TFP deck materials choices are rather limited to PT (rather green, as it is when new) and cedar (which is quite dark)...and no choices for actually selecting materials like you do for "appearance" in most other objects.
The "trick" is to make your own texture .jpg (512x256 pixels), (or start with a ptreated.jpg file and modify it and save as a different name)
save "ptreated.jpg" (located: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IMSIDesign\TurboFLOORPLAN Home & Landscape Pro\Textures) with a new name (so you don't lose it and can use it again later)(rename to something like 'ptreated-orig.jpg')
then name your newly desired texture/color "ptreated.jpg" in same folder as original 'ptreated.jpg' (original file, re-named, won't be replaced) and use xxPTxxxx for deck material....and your new texture will be applied for the deck material.
I tried it and it works just fine....but you have to remember what you did because the next .bld file will work the same way....and if you really want PT appearance, you have to change .jpg file names again.

Actually you can change the textures colours etc without having to do that. It is another one of TFP's illusive double-click options! When you use the Select for decking, railing, posts etc all you need to do is double-click the element in the list and all the usual properties are there, including the Appearance tab. On this tab you can customise almost everything. It is the same in V12 or V14.

I was changing the decking itself not the rails and balusters.
Do you know of a way to change the DECK ("floor" you walk on) materials (such as 5/4x6 or 2x6) for something other than PT or cedar?
Maybe I missed something?
(ah and yes I see the large icons and space taken by toolbars et al...easier to read, but I like as much view as possible....hence why I use dual monitors....see attached image for how I have my screens ( matched 18" each 1280x1024) setup with all tools on right screen, including large window for materials/camera....and sometimes I use 2 windows at same time on left screen for seeing both 2D and 3D/camera views together)

These are all totally customisable on the Frame tab. You can set the size and spacing of the timbers and the materials. I have checked and V12 is the same as V14.
Two screens certainly makes a difference. When I am home using the laptop, I plug in a 24" LCD, so I have the tools on the laptop with a second view and the main view on the big sceen. I have the laptop below the main screen, so go up and down to the tools. It seems to remember where they are and when I plug the screen in it switches automatically to dual screen mode and the LCD automatically resizes itself too. The LCD has two connection lead coming out of it, so the other one goes to the desktop sp I dont need to change any plugs or anything. If the desktop is on it switches automatically to that. I don't have both on at once of course!! - don't know what it would do if I did! I am glad it works automatically - I hate to think what tangle I would get into if I tried to do it myself each time. I must have got it right the first time and the laptop and screen thankfully remember what I did - I certainly don't!

Yes, you are correct...it does work the same as other materials (guess I forgot)
and I found the ptreated.jpg there that I just changed....
so, one can make choices AND, like other materials, we can simply add more texture maps (.jpg etc.) to the texture folders
