I just purchased this program and I am not able to select objects in 2d... ie walls or trace projects etc. If I switch to 3d over-view I can select a wall but when I switch back to 2d it is deselected?? I am also unable to select the objects is 3d perpective. Is this a vista 64 bit problem ?

I found that I had to go to Settings -> Programme Settings -> Graphics -> Deselect Hardware Acceleration.

Hi, Welcome to TurboFLOORPLAN and the Forum.
Hardware acceleration is one of those things that is very specific to the setup on a particular PC, especially the graphics card it uses. It affect everyone differently. Obviously you will have to turn it off while editing the plan but may be able to have it on while moving around - movement is much slower with it off. We have asked in the past for a simple on/off button on the Status Bar, similar to Collison but it has not happened yet. Thankfully on my two PCs I can work with it on 99% of the time.
As you work with the program and something odd happens, HA is the first thing to change (to off or on) and it may fix the issue.

thanks for the tip.... was hoping this program was a little more bug at 99 bucks... compared to another program that was 5 bucks... My Virtual Home.. :( Live and learn...
It sounds to me like you are not choosing items on the proper building location. Look in the lower left-hand corner. There should be a pulldown menu, indicating foundation, first-floor, second-floor etc.
-ve... the items are not greyed out meaning they are on another layer..
In 3D view your can select objects from any Location but in Plan View you can only select objects from the Location you are on in the drop down selector as Dave mentioned. The items on the selected Location will be dark and the others will all be greyed out depending how much transparency is set in Settings. (In Settings you can also turn off just selecting on one location but that is not recommended as it is too easy to select the wrong thing in a 2D view).
I gathered from your earlier post that turning off Hardware Acceleration had solved the problem, or could it be that you also switched to the right Location about the same time? It would be good to double check that or you could have hardware Acceleration off unnecessarily.
By the way, unless My Virtual Home has made dramatic advancement since I last tried it, you will find that TurboFLOORPLAN is infinitely more capable. As you delve into it you will find its complexity increases yet on the surface it is simple and easy to use. However, when you need the complexity and advanced features they are there. Just keep double-clicking things and see what opens up!

I could not select notation or animation paths I placed on the drawing. I tried the layers and all the obvious things to turn on and off. I read this and turned off HA and now I can select those things.
So no, this is not user error. It is a bug.

Whether it is a bug or not is probably debateable. The HA switch is there so that capable PCs can use HA but it can be turned off for those that can't. You can also turn it down or off within Windows itself, which shows it is not something limited to TFP. I had a situatiion on my desktop where I had to turn it off in the program AND in the operating system. However I updated the graphics card drivers to the latest version and then everthing was fine, with all HA on and has been that way ever since.

Thanks Guys! I was suffering exactly the same problem. I could drop objects onto the 2d plan but when I clicked on the objects in the plan nothing happened. I could walk around the 3d view but could not select walls or use the paint tool.
I am using "3d Home Design Deluxe 12" which is a re-badged TFP, but I also had the same problem in a trial of TFP Deluxe 14. This is on a Sony Vaio with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 and Vista 64 Bit.
After finding this thread and turning the hardware acceleration off in TFP fixed the issue and I can drag objects around to my hearts content!
The graphics driver itself has no option to turn the acceleration off and the option is disabled in the OS settings. It's debatable if this is a bug in TFP or in the graphics driver, but I've never had a problem with another app.

Welcome to the Forum.
I suspect the issue is more PC related than a TFP problem in the sense that it is fine on some PC's and not others. From the comments in this forum it seems that ATI cards are the most susceptible. I had many similar problems with this with several programs (not only TFP) when I had an ATI card laptop. Mine did have provision to decrease the acceleration on the card too and I had to turn that down a little also. My desktop (Nvidia) was always OK.
Recently I bought a new laptop and made sure it had Nvidia graphics and I have not had any issues with any programs. TurboFLOORPLAN has become a real TURBO and produces images in one third of the time it took on the previous one. That is not only the graphics card of course - the processor, RAM etc are all much better too, but being able to use the hardware acceleration has made a huge difference to the editing /viewing process also.

Having just purchased TFP Pro 15 I found I had exactly the same problem. Couldn't select anything in plan view and only from a view looking from above in perspective view and that was very hit and miss. However I have fortunately read this forum. found and turned off hardware accelleration in TFP and that has cured the problem but as you say with a very significant loss in performance. My video card is an ATI Radeon HD 4670. I will see if there are any ATI updates available, maybe that will fix it.

Welcome to the forum.
Yes an update of the driver often solves the problem. In the past there have been many reports of issues with ATI so it may throw some additional light on it if you do a search on the forum for ATI or Radeon.
You may also be able to leave it turned on inTFP but turn it down a fraction on the video driver itself and solve the issue that way without too much, or any loss of speed.

You can try these steps,
1 - Check the website of your video card manufacturer and update the drivers
2 - Right click on the wallpaper (look for a place without icons)--> Properties--> Settings--> Advanced--> Open GL--> Compatibility Settings--> Force 16 bits--> Apply--> OK
3 - Set your video color depth at 24 or 32 bits ("true color")
4 - Go to www.microsoft.com/directx, and see what version is current and check if you have this version installed in your computer
If the options above don't solve the problem
5 - Go to the video setup on your PC (may be different for different versions of Windows and video card); for most, click on an empty part of the windows Desktop, click on Settings->Advanced->Troubleshoot). Back the accelerations slider to the left, one notch each time and see if the problem disappears
If you are using Win 7 look for Personalize--> Performance
6 - last resource--> change the color settings from 32 bits to 16 bits

Hi and thanks. I updated my ATI card driver and all is now working as it should. As I only fitted this new card about 3 months ago I was somewhat surprised that I required an update but there you go. I am now using Highest (32bit) colour quality at 1920 x 1200 pixels and 125% larger fonts as unfortunately my eyesight isn't what it used to be even with glasses.

Glad to know that you solved the problem.
The drivers' update are a real issue, and the first to look after (this is why is # 1 in the list). There is a good reason for this --> you wrote that you updated it 3 months ago: now think how many Windows updates and patches you set in the last 3 months? As the OS is the "manager" of all the drivers, if you update the OS, you need to update the drivers so they can work in harmony :)
I have also an ATI card, working with full accelerations and 32 bits
