Title: New Forum Link
Post by: Steve Clarke on April 23, 2009, 05:18:22 PM
Hi,

I have spent the last 3 days trying to access the Forum via my Internet Explorer Link, and thinking it was down, (all I got was a cached text version). I also tried via the Support page on the TurboFloorPlan web site with the same result.

Today my link still didn't work, but the Support page did! - why? - because forum.turbofloorplan.com (http://forum.turbofloorplan.com) has become forums.turbofloorplan.com (http://forums.turbofloorplan.com) ! Nice of IMSI to tell us!

(Of course until you find this out, you won't be able to read this anyway, so I posted to the old FloorPlan Forum as well in case people look there - also as the Link there now does not work either)

Why change the URL anyway or, if it had to be, why not at least provide a redirection?

Title: Links in previous posts
Post by: Steve Clarke on April 25, 2009, 02:57:16 AM
Hi Allan,

It also means that any Hyperlinks you have added in previous posts no longer work, as they still point to forum.turbofloorplan.com. For instance your post Re: Question on Trial (http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,823.msg3965.html#msg3965) - which should link to this post Re: Woodshop Tools Catalog (http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,805.msg3839.html#msg3839) which contains more links that won't work any more!

IMSI need to do a global find/replace in the Forum database if that's possible.

(Links to pictures, attachments are OK)

Good point Steve, I had not thought about the links. I will have to see if I can get them to re-name it back to what it was - it should be possible.

Same thing happened to the Envisioneer forum one time also. Poor planning in both cases!

I lost it for several days and today I went to Floor Plan 11 forum and luckly they had a link. It nice to be back. I was having withdrawal pains from the fear that I would miss something.

It's a good job I added that post then!

'They', i.e. IMSI, haven't updated their link on the FloorPlan Forum - it still points to forum.turbofloorplan.

I notice the News at the top of this Forum now says "Welcome back, we just upgraded our forum software." - that is if people find it!

It is rather funny that they haven't change the forum link on the site, on Thursday 23 April I phone the support on IMSI and tell them that the forum-link not working, they come back rater quick with the new address so they is aware of the trouble with the link. What I can see they have 2 they can do 1. Change back to the old link.  2: Redirect the page the new address and change the link on the homepage

They have now redirected forum.turbofloorplan.com to forums.turbofloorplan.com   :)

But any Hyperlinks in previous posts to other posts just redirect to the homepage instead  :(

And checking the Source of the page shows the Smiley Icons in Post Reply are still pointing to forum.turbofloorplan.com - hence all the red crosses   :( ,
although they are actually at http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/Themes/default/images/post/smiley.gif  (http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/Themes/default/images/post/smiley.gif)  (As can be seen from the 'var icon_urls' lines)
