Hi, Welcome to the Forum!
First check the version build number. If it is 624 then apply the patch linked at the bottom of the forum.
If it comes up as 637 (latest) try turning off Hardware Acceleration (Settings / Program Settings / Graphics).
If these dont help try the same thing on a new basic model and if that works, post the BLD file here - may be a file corruption - usually a wall join, so hopefully we can find it!
Allan
thanks alan
have sorted problem 1 ( rebuilt walls now can change roof properties)
also found using surface builder for roofs works well.
still have problem 2 & 3 plus on vista have now noticed that all the items in the
catalogue are grey colour and only change shape not colour.
is V14 buggy or is it me.
mike
Hi Mike,
The initial build (624) does have some bugs on some PCs. I had a few problems on my laptop, yet the older desktop works fine - both are running Windows XP but very different graphics cards. The patch fixed the laptop. If you have build 624 amd have not installed the patch then do so and it should solve the problems. There have been some reports of issues with Vista so do a Search for Vista on the forum - there may be some comments that help.
Similarly Hardware Acceleration can cause problems in very different ways on different PCs so again experiment with that on and off.
The colours in the catalog all being grey sounds odd. Is EVERYTHING grey. Can you change the colour or texture? When you try does it give you textures to choose from? Maybe it has lots the Textures folder. Look in Settings/Program Settings. The General Tab has a list of the default locations for folders. Is the textures folder where it is supposed to be according to that list. If not find the Textures folder and move it to the folder where TFP expects it to be.
Did you use the default folder location during installation or choose your own? The latter has caused issues with some.
I suspect the lack of some printer options is related to hardware acceleration.
Let us know how you get on.
Allan
Hi again alan
after a few days away I thought I would have another go at these problems.
Well cured the all grey textures in catologue -- it seems vista wants to put items in program data
when it should be in application data, changed and all is well.
as to not showing print options on W2000 I am still grappling with that.
am running V637 with acceleration off
thanks for your help
mike
Hi Mike,
Sounds like you are gradually getting there.
You may find when you get these initial issues sorted out that you can turn HA on again and only turn it off for some operations. I rarely have to turn mine off these days. Navigation is certainly smoother with it on.
