Imagine a rectangular building over which you wish to place two and overlapping skillion roofs. The properties for the walls include auto extend to underside of roof.
The first roof covering hald the building is straightforward and is angled at say 20 degrees. As soon as it os placed the auto extend function on the walls beneath do their thing.
However, when the second roof section is placed at some shallower angle, the external walls beneath it refuse to budge using auto extend.
If there is an easier way than constructing an elevated wall section as the in-fill, I would surely appreciate that advice.

Hi Rob,
Yes there a couple of ways to do this that come straight to mind.
Since the second roof is above the first and is a shallower angle, then this means the walls of the second section are technicallyhigher than the first section. This would indicate they should have been on a separate Location, as the walls will assume the height of the Location setting and extend from there if necessary. The roof will automatically sit at the wall height of the Location it is on.
That would indicate that the second roofed part of the building should have its own Location with the walls preset higher and the shallower but higher roof would go on this location. The walls would extend automatically. This obviously means redoing the walls and joining them suitably so they still make complete 'Rooms' using the Room Divde tool.
A second solution also involves another Location but does not require you to redraw the walls. You could set up a Location (maybe name it Extension) that is above the first but with no space allowance for a floor and the wall height set to the extra height only. In other words, create a new Location that has the Floor Level set the the height of the Ground floor walls(8') plus the height of the base floor itself (1') but no allowance for a 'second ' Floor, so the Floor Level for the new location is 9' (not 10' as it would be if you required a floor). If your wall 'extension is 1', then set the height of the wall of this new 'Extension' location to 1'.
On the ground floor location, select each of the walls that need to be the extra height, right click and select 'Duplication to Locations and select the new 'Extension' Location. That will copy these walls to the new location with will shrink then to just 1' high to fit this location (as long as they were set to AutoExtend). This will in effect 'stack' the existing wall on top of itself and shorten it so the total height is 9'. You can then add a roof on this Extension Location and the walls will extend to the new roof. You may have to turn off the baseboard of this short wall and the crown moulding of the lower wall.
A third option, if you are using V14, is to use the new Roof Surface tool for the roof. It is just a single slope but it may still require the extra wall height to work. I have not tried that option.
Hope you can follow all that - just ask again if it is not clear.
Allan
Thank you Allan for the excellent suggestions.
