Title: TFP 3D H&L Deluxe V14 - Won't start
Post by: Bjorn on May 07, 2009, 09:09:34 PM
Hi,
I recently bought the TurboFLOORPLAN 3D Home Landscape Deluxe V14 online and ran the setup file, but when I try to start the program all I get is an error message that says that Envisioneer 5.0 has stopped working and will shut down.  The software never starts and all I see is the described message.  I have downloaded the setup file twice and clean-installed it at least four times.  I am meeting or exceeding the minimum system requirements:

Vista Home Premium V6.0 SP1 32-bit
Intel Dual Processor 3GHz
1GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4350 512MB DDR2 on PCIe

I also tried the upgrade file from your website, but it didn't help.  I am really interested in getting my software to work and hope that someone may be able to help me.
Thank you in advance.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I am not a technical person so may not be much help, however I know there have been a number of Vista issues. Try the forum Search and you may find some answers.

If not, use the free installation support number on the IMSI Design web site.

Sorry to hear you having such trouble... are you running the install by right-clicking and running as administrator?  Also do you have UAC turned off?

Hi All,

I have spent the last 3 days getting this to work with advise from tech support. The program seems to be OK now. However, when I try to load a sample file I get this message same message that Envisioneer has stopped working and will shutdown. In the meantime the added bonus is that the program has hung and you have to restart.

Vista Home Premium v6
Intel Duo T5500 1.6GHz
2GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce Go 7600

Any help gratefully recieved.

Hi,  Welcome to the forum.

There certainly seem to be a few issues with TFP on Vista but it seems at least you have got it working.  You say it crashes on opening the sample files - how does it go just creating your own building, or even using the wizard to do so?  Does it crash with these?

The sample buildings are actually quite big, although your PC specs sound as though they should be quite capable of handling them.  Have you tried it with Hardware Acceleration turned off?  Some PCs, regardless of specs, have problems with it turned on for some functions.  It is on by default when installed so it may be worth trying with it off, if you haven't already done so. Hi Allan,

I have just tried with the accelerator off but still the same result. It will only load the smallest file from the samples.

I went back to tech. support yesterday morning but I have not heard from them again yet.

If I get it working I will post here.

Thanks

John

Hi John,

A few more questions:

Are you using V12 or V14?

If V14, what is the build number?
If it is 624 you need to apply the patch linked at the bottom of the forum as this fixes a memory leak and crashes when editing V12 files (which the samples probable are).

Can you create a new model not using the samples? I assume you can if you can open one of the small samples. This seems to indicate memory management issues and I know Vista is very memory hungary, but I would have thought 2 gig of RAM would be OK.

Let us know what tech support has to say.

 ;D
I finally solved the problem!!!
It was the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) in Microsoft Vista Home Edition that kept preventing me from running the file...! >:(
The solution is to turn off DEP for the TFP14Deluxe.exe file, so it can be started without interruptions.

For anyone who has the same problem as described above, follow these steps for a solution and happy house designing:

I also had the same 'Envisioneer 5.0 has stopped working' message on startup as Bjorg with Vista. I managed to get it working in a different way however. I ran a program called 'Registry First Aid' that checks the registry for errors & corrects them. I didn't look at all the errors found but just got it to correct them all. After this TFP V14 ran prefectly. I have been upgrading TFP from quite a few previous versions, last being version 12. I wonder if some TFP junk from a previous version got left behind in the Registry and was confusing V14 when it tried to start. It certainly worked after doing the above. Hope this may help someone with the same annoying problem.

Bjorn,

I've been having issues on this for a long time and basically gave up until I just happened accross your post. You details on how to add the TFD file into the DEP worked like a charm. I'm back to designing like I never stopped. Excellent post and followup to the problem. Thanks a bunch.
