In the UK we have something called a velux window, i.e. a window in a roof, perhaps in other terminology that is a rooflight?
Anyway, I know you can not put a window in a roof, they only snap into walls. So how do you do this and get it to look like a window on the elevations etc. Possible or not?
I guess you could get something to look like a window in 3D render via cutting a hole in a roof then somehow elevating a suitably detailed surface into the gap, changing the properties etc so that it looked like a window? Is that the best way to do it?
I used a technique using bmp with a magenta background as a texture to create Iron Gates, so I guess you could capture a window image and do something similar, but I can see it being a real pain to have to alter it to match any pitch changes of the roof etc.
I would be a good feature if you could toggle the windows to snap into the roof instead of a wall:-*
Hi,
Windows may not snap into a Roof, but Skylights do!
So Insert / Roofs / Skylights should do all you want, they automatically adjust to the slope, etc.
Doh ::)
Thanks Steve I was looking under windows.
Cheers,
