Display dimensions

Just installed FLOORPLAN Home & Interior v12 and the update on the website. I'm unable to get the dimensions shown on the 2D floorplan. Followed the instructions from the help menu (View Filter - Notations - click the eye On/Off) but no go. Any suggestions?

Hi Sam,

Welcome to the Forum.

The View Filter is basically used to turn things off, or to lock them so you do not select them accidentally.  The dimension need to be turned on first before this will work.

To turn them on go to Tools> Dimensions and select Auto Exterior Dimensions.  If you change anything on the plan after turning this on, the dimension will not change. You must select this option again and the dimensions will be recalculated.

Thanks Allan. I now have exterior dimensions, including for interior walls that connect to exterior walls.

Is there a way to automatically activate dimensions for interior walls that do not connect to exterior walls?

Hi Sam,

Not totally automatic. You can use Auto Interior Dimensions, but that gives you the distance between walls at the points where you insert them and they will adjust if you move the wall.

If you want the length of a free standing wall you will have to use Linear Dimensions.  Just click at each end of the wall and drag the dimension away from the wall the distance you want it to be. If you need to fine tune any of the dimensions you can just select it and drag the little blue arrows to be exactly where you want them (eg the edge of the wall rather than the centre).

Not automatic but almost and it means you can put them where you want.  If you lengthen the wall however you will have to drag the dimenson out also.
