installing updates under XP - freezes

Yes Pat, I agree with Robert entirely.  I have done some programming and enjoy that - seeing things I have designed work etc and I enjoy working with software generally, especially TFP, but setting up computers and all the fiddling around with getting things to work does not interest me in the slightest, with a result that I do not take it in! When I finally solve something I think "thank goodnes for that - it works" then promptly forget what I did to fix it. (plus the brain is getting too old!!)

As Robert said - it is good to know you are around to help out!!

Be prepared for some Windows 7 questions!!

I am not a Win 7 user yet.... I install Microsoft products only after the release of the first (serious) Service Pack or patch....

Hi Pat,

I must admit I have had that in the back of my mind too, which has added to my reluctance to upgrade. Maybe it is a good reson to put it off a bit longer!

Just bought a new laptop for my wife with Win7 and so far I am very impressed - everything seems easier somehow.

  Just bought a netbook with XP on it and I have less trouble than with the Vista computer. As soon as I can afford it, I am buying a Win 7 computer. I have heard a lot of good things about it. I have several graphics programs and so far the forum say they are having less problems with Win 7 than with Vista.

My main concern today regarding Win 7 is a compatibility issue, and I mean hardware and software

Software: Not all the programs can be installed / work in compatibility mode. Roxio 7 (CD burner, slideshow maker, etc) is one of them, "conveniently" (for them) you need to upgrade  and the new versions haven't all the tools
Hardware: not all the hardware manufacturers have Win 7 drivers, specially for the videocards. And for us, 3D users, the videocards are the "soul of the business" 

This is why I'll stick with XP (while MS supports it) ....

Hi all!

I read this on Microsoft home page in last week, the security upgrade for Windows XP SP2, both 32 and 64 bit, will end in April so if you not have SP3 upgrade as fast as possibly the you have support to  at last to 2014.

In my one opinion TFP work better with Windows XP SP3.
