Import File to work on Laptop & Desktop

Hi I just purchased Turbo Floor Plan Pro. Is there a way to work on a plan on two of my computers? I travel during the week and could work on the file then and would like to transfer file then onto my desktop. Is that possible, or does the program and file have to stay on one computer? Thank you for your help.

Hi Deryl,

Welcome to the forum.

Yes you can do that - I do it a lot. If you install the program on both computers you just have to copy the BLD file and open it on the other computer.  You can find where the BLD file is saved by going to Setting/Program Settings/ General tab. It will be in the Projects folder by default but you can save them anywhere - even onto a USB drive if you want, which may make it easier.

The only problem comes about if add your own textures (or photo boards) because the program references them on your hard drive.  In that case you would have to copy the new texture to the Textures folder on the other computer, otherwise it would not find it and it would replace it with just white (I think).  Obviously you need to check where the textures folder is too. Probably this could be moved to a UBS drive as well, but I am still a bit dubious about them - so small and easy to lose. I left a 16GB one on a train one time, so have been very cautious ever since. You could leave a laptop on the train too but less likely to happen I think.

I use a desktop and laptop as well. 

If a texture/material/.jpg or .bmp image is used OFTEN, I place the file in the same location on hard drive as the TFP materials....a location like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IMSIDesign\TurboFLOORPLAN Home & Landscape Pro\Textures
and name it/list it in the catalog.

and if you also place the same file (copy there-of) on the other PC, then TFP will find it OK from the .bld file when it is opened....especially if you add the texture to the catalog.

Its also helpful if you add things to the catalog to:
1. always make a backup of your "master" catalog
2. keep the catalog file the same on both PC's....meaning keep transporting one to the other when catalog changes are made....otherwise you may lose track of stuff and forget why.

PS if you are ever looking for an object, color, etc.....and you think it has an applied image (many/most items do);
then it can be handy to "search" via name or using an image view in this folder.
Since there are about 3700 files....you may want to order by name or use a fast search engine (like free fast "search everything")
